Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation
The goal is to reduce pain and maintain joint mobility. The aim is to facilitate the individual’s daily life. Treatment is conducted in sessions, with a total of 15–20 sessions, each lasting 1–1.5 hours. If a patient undergoing physical therapy has joint limitations, some exercises performed by the physiotherapist may cause mild pain in the affected area. Physical therapy is not only used for pain management but also for correcting impaired muscle mechanics.
The treatment used to reintegrate disabled individuals into society is called rehabilitation. The rehabilitation team includes a physical therapy specialist, physiotherapist, psychologist, and social worker. Rehabilitation is a longer process and can take years.
